The Student Assessment Guide and Learning Plan describes the evidence required to be competent in this unit.

You can track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study. You can also get support from your iTAFE mentor and advisor.

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Lead and Manage People unit. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.

Session 1 - Model high standards of performance and behaviour - Pink tiles

·         Types of teams
·         Characteristics of an effective team
·         Team makeup
·         Advantages of employee team
A few points to think about for your blog:
How can you ensure that the goals you implement are consistent with organisational goals?


Why is it important to encourage innovative approaches from your staff?
How do you encourage your staff to take an innovative approach to their work?



Session 3: Evaluating performance - Yellow & Red tiles

This includes:
·         Encourage team independence
·         Praise, criticism & rewards
·         Representing the team
·         Delegation


·         Monitoring team performance
·         Key Performance Indicators
·         Solve Performance Problems
·         Conflict resolution
·         Mediation
·         Recognise and reward achievements

Explain why it is important to assess the skills of team members.

Briefly describe the system you use to monitor and assess your team’s performance and progress towards the achievement of goals.
